CUiP
Every year, EIPHC hosts a fundraiser to benefit a local not-for-profit organization. This event began as C-U in the Prairibbean (CUiP) and has evolved over the years to Back to the Prairibbean. CUiP was an evening of music and fun, with multiple local bands performing throughout the night and plenty of food and beverage vendors (yes, we mean beer!). There was also a large silent auction where people could bid on baskets with a wide variety of items. This event was held for several years in downtown Champaign and grew over the years. The largest attendance was over 800 attendees! The annual club fundraiser currently benefits the Developmental Services Center, a non-profit organization that provides opportunities for over 1,200 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live the most independent life possible, while becoming a part of their community.
The event evolved into Back to the Prairibbean following COVID-19. Our first live event in two years was a scaled-down version held Tuesday, August 10, 2021(530 - 900 pm) at Riggs Beer Company. Mike, Dyke, and Howie of The Boat Drunks performed. There were 80 guests who attended, including 32 EIPHC members. Thanks to everyone who came out, we raised $5,060 for the Developmental Services Center of Champaign. In addition to the cover charge, 11 baskets were created to raffle off during the event.
Back to the Prairibbean is growing each year, and in 2024 over 500 attendees attended, $15,910 was raised for DSC, and everyone enjoyed a wonderful evening. Our fundraiser continues to this day and is held each year in August at Riggs Beer Company. We hope to see you there!
